Kate Douglas is a writer, director, performer and aspiring beekeeper based in New York City.

Her writing and arrangements have been performed at The Met Cloisters, Ars Nova, Joe’s Pub and The McKittrick Hotel and developed at SPACE on Ryder Farm, The Orchard Project, New Victory Theater, Rhinebeck Musicals, The National Theater Institute and the Writer’s Colony at Goodspeed. She is currently a 2019-2020 Dramatists Guild Fellow, a member of The Civilians R&D Group, a 2020 Sokoloff Arts Fellow and a member of The Orchard Project Greenhouse.

She is a Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project Fellow, where she has served as adjudicator for the past three years, and a member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. She was as one of New York Musical Festival's Women of Note in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

As a performer, she has trained with artists such as Raina von Waldenburg, Christopher Bayes and Erica Fae. Most recently, she attended L’Ecole Jacques LeCoq in Paris. Other performance credits include Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More, Third Rail’s The Grand ParadiseKansas City Choir Boy starring Courtney Love and Todd Almond (Premiere and Tour) and Fernando Rubio’s Everything by my side (U.S. Premiere).

As a teaching artist, she has trained with Musicians Without Borders, Gibney Dance, Lincoln Center Education and Ping Chong + Company. She regularly teaches master classes at the National Theatre Institute and is a fellow of the Juno Leadership Residency at The Omega Institute.

As a complement to her artistic practice, she is a Master Naturalist and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist. She is also a student herbalist and Citizen Tree Pruner in Training. She is currently working towards her Horticulture Certificate Sustainable Garden Design with the New York Botanical Garden this year.
